Catherine Greenwood demonstrates some of the materials that can be used as alternatives for printmaking without the use of harsh solvents that have less impact on health and environment and can be safely used in a home studio. Printmakers with their own press during the Lockdown restrictions of 2020 are finding it a challenge to create work without access to a Print Room. Catherine demonstrates than you can set up and etch in your own studio without the need for fume hoods or chemical disposal units.
Catherine has been in weekly contact during the time of Lockdown 2020 with Professor Susan Groce who is Head of Printmaking at the University of Maine USA; and Catherine was amongst her first students in 1997/98. Over zoom calls, they have been sharing ideas for teaching Safer Etching Printmaking with students without Print room access during the Covid 19 pandemic.

On return to the UK, Catherine has since set up her own Green Print Studio in West Sussex, from where she makes etchings and teaches. UK. She has also been a Print fellow at London’s City & Guilds Art School.
