Louisa Crispin - Fern V
Lost in a world of intricate observations from nature, Louisa is entranced by the cycle of growth and decay. It’s quiet in her studio as she looks ever closer at the flora and fauna. Texture, shadows, silhouettes and movement created with graphite marks and tone, it’s rarely about the colour.
The narrative is focused on wildlife corridors: the importance of a network of routes between habitats to ensure diversity. She aims to encourage open discussion about the plight of our wildlife, spending time in Nature and looking more closely, straddling the gap between art and science.
‘Exploring the theme of water in relation to my subject has brought surprises which in turn are posing ongoing questions in the relationships between flora and fauna as well as our role now in the future of our environment.
