Polly Bennett - I was in the River for 16 Days
I was in the stream for 70 days, I was in the river for 13 days, I was in the
river for 115 days, I was in the river for 10 days I and I was in the river for
10 days II are a series of works exploring the marks left by wild water.
To explore the flow and movement of wild water, Polly submerged steel
sheets in rivers and streams local to her in Kent. Variables such as the
size of the steel sheet, the length of time it was left in the water, and the
way in which it was submerged altered the corroded marks created
but ultimately the water was the artist, and Polly, simply the facilitator.
The results record the waters script, movement and flow.
Polly is an environmental artist and pigment maker. She if the founder of
POLBEN’s Pigment, regularly sharing her pigment knowledge through
workshops and talks.
