Printmaker Lucy Devenish is a wild swimmer with a go pro, creating photos and drawings and etchings from her adventures in the sea.
The caves under Baggy Point, Devon were initially explored in 2014. Experiences from this swim were made into a film. Excerpts are projected back into a pool of water in which the artist swam on a tether during isolation. This re-engagement offers a re-experiencing of the wild landscape, whilst the presence of the artist’s projected head allows the viewer, along with the artist, to follow her imaged figure backwards through time into a past encounter with the sea.
This video is presented by the Wilderness Art Collective for an online exhibition 'Wilderness for the Mind'
